Your used bike purchase always includes ONE FREE TUNE-UP!
We offer a variety of used bicycles for sale and for rent, ranging from comfort hybrids to high-end road and mountain bikes. Think about the kind of riding you’ll be doing to help you determine what type of bicycle is best for you.
What kind of bicycle should you choose?
Hybrid bikes are perfect for pedaling around town, and you’ll find no better companion for casual rides and errands, including a commute to work or a trip to the grocery store. Our used bikes already come with a rear rack, so you can easily bring along bags and other cargo.
If you want more challenging rides in the Bay Area, definitely consider our high-performance road and mountain bike offerings. Golden Gate Park and McLaren Park both offer great mountain biking within San Francisco’s city limits, and just across the Golden Gate Bridge, you’ll find the birthplace of mountain biking in Marin County. The Bay Area also offers incredible road biking routes — don’t you deserve a road bike that’s as incredible as the views?
We ensure that your bike will fit you right
No matter how awesome your bicycle is, it won’t be comfortable if it doesn’t fit you right. You should be able to easily reach the handlebars and comfortably stand over the bike, and you shouldn’t feel too ‘scrunched up’ when you ride. Luckily, our experts are very experienced, and we’re happy to help customers get a great fit!
We also have everyone test ride their bikes, so you’ll get to take your new wheels for a spin to make sure everything is comfortable before you ride off into the sunset. We’re also proud to offer a 7-day exchange for our regular pedal bikes. If you don’t love your used bike for any reason, just bring it back to us within 7 days and you can exchange it for another.
The first bicycle tune-up is free
You gotta love your bike if you want it to love you back! Keep your tires inflated and your chain lubricated, and do the ABC Quick Check before every ride. If you’re not sure about these important safety checks, try a local sporting goods store or community bike shop — many offer maintenance classes for a variety of skill levels and budgets.
It’s a good idea to get regular professional tune-ups, too. The frequency for these depends on how often you’re using your bike, but usually every 6 months is about right. When you buy a used bike from Blazing Saddles, we offer your first tune-up for free! Beyond that, there are tons of full-service bike shops in San Francisco, so get friendly with your LBS (local bike shop).
Don’t forget to accessorize!
You might want some accessories to get the most out of your new wheels. California state law requires helmets for anyone under 18, and we think they’re a good idea for everyone. If you ever plan to leave your bike unattended, you’ll also want a good quality bike lock and the knowledge on how to secure your bike properly — check out these locking tips for some guidance. If you’ll be riding in the early morning or after dark, you’ll also need to get lights. Check with your LBS for these accessories and more.
