Veterans Day Parade and Sunday Streets - this weekend in SF!

Posted on 11/11/2016

If you’re looking for an efficient way to check them both out, of course a bicycle is best! We recommend making an online reservation so you can get a 20% discount on your bicycle daily rate, then pick up your bike from our main location at 2715 Hyde Street, which boasts our best bike selection plus an indoor test ride. From here, we’re just 1.5 blocks away from Jefferson Street, which is the route for the Veterans Day parade!

The parade steps off on the Embarcadero (at North Point Street) at 11am, and then travels north/northwest on Embarcadero to Jefferson Street. The parade turns west and goes the length of Jefferson Street, so pick a spot on Jefferson to cheer on the veterans! We are deeply grateful to everyone who has served.

After the parade passes by, head over to Embarcadero and ride south. This is a flat road with a nice green bike lane that will take you straight to the Sunday Streets route, beginning near Pier 9. Once you’re on the Sunday Streets route, the street will be closed to motor vehicles and open for people to cycle, play, walk, and cartwheel across to the entire street! The event runs from 11am to 4pm, and you can read more here. You can also download PDFs of the route map and activity guide

Sunday Streets is a great opportunity for kids and younger riders to practice on-street riding in a car-free setting. There are a number of family-friendly activities at the event, too, and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition is also hosting great activities such as a Family Bike Test-Ride and Freedom from Training Wheels to get youngsters rolling on their own.

Hope to see you in the streets!
