Labor Day Via Bicycle

Ah, Labor Day, the unofficial last weekend of summer! Whether you’ll be celebrating in NYC or SF, we’ve got some fun ideas for summer’s last hurrah.

If an urban Labor Day getaway is your plan for the holiday weekend, escape the inevitable traffic and hop on a bike to see the sights and have some fun.

If New York City is your destination this weekend, hop on a ferry and head to Governors Island. There are miles of car-free biking paths, great food options (hello El Paso tacos!), and hammocks to relax in after your ride. Also, the NYC Unicycle Festival is happening on the island this weekend, so you can watch the competition and even get a lesson from an expert on how to ride a unicycle.

If you are heading to San Francisco for the holiday weekend, the weather is supposed to be perfect for pedaling around the city. Clear blue skies and warm afternoon breezes are the best conditions for riding over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito. The annual Sausalito Art Festival is happening this weekend, so take advantage of the free bike parking and check out the wares from local artists before heading back to the city on the ferry boat.

Oh summer, you will be missed! See you next year.
