Fun Activities In San Francisco

Posted on 10/09/2014

Our 2555 Powell Street location is right in the middle of the action at Fisherman’s Wharf, the perfect place to start! With unrestricted views of air shows, the Parade of Ships, and easy access to the Blue Angels Meet & Greet at Pier 39, this is a great spot to begin your Fleet Week adventure! Don’t forget, you’re also only five short blocks from the National Park Bike Path running through the Marina Green and Crissy Field.

From Tuesday to Wednesday the Academy of Art Gallery at the Cannery plays host to an exhibition of artworks by active duty service members and veterans. Located on Jefferson Street, the Cannery was built in 1907 for the Del Monte canning company and was the largest operation of its kind in the United States right up until its closure in 1937. This historic building will be the perfect backdrop to this one-of-a-kind exhibition. Other events happening in or around Fishermans Wharf include Navy and Marine Corps band performances at the Pier 39 entrance plaza, tours of historic ships from Piers 17-35, and plenty of appearances and presentations by veterans and active service members. Don’t forget to get your photo with the Blue Angels at the Pier 39 Meet & Greet on Saturday evening, followed up by a terrific fireworks display over the water.

There’s also tons of action happening on the Marina Green throughout the weekend, with prime viewing area for the Blue Angels air show rehearsals on Thursday and Friday, not to mention the air show proper on Saturday and Sunday. The Humanitarian Village will be running all weekend with a variety of food stalls, displays, and fun activities to keep the whole family entertained. Sunday afternoon will also see the colorful Italian Heritage Parade take to the streets of North Beach – make sure to get to Columbus Street early to nab a good viewing spot!

We’d love to get you set up with a great bike to get the most out of your Fleet Week experience. No reservations are ever necessary as we have the largest rental fleet in California, so pop on in to any of our 6 Fishermans Wharf locations and our staff will take good care of you!

Fleet Week returns to San Francisco in 2014, bigger and better than ever! From the Blue Angels to the Humanitarian Village and Parade of Ships, there’s plenty of action happening around Fisherman’s Wharf, Fort Mason, Crissy Field, and all the way out to Fort Point under the Golden Gate Bridge. The best way to get the most out of this tradition is to rent a bike and cruise along the waterfront!
