Bike the Car-Free Bridge - this weekend only!

The Golden Gate Bridge was closed to all vehicles during the 50th Anniversary celebration

This is one of the very few times in nearly 80 years that the Golden Gate Bridge has been closed to car traffic, so don’t miss out on this historic opportunity! Most of the other bridge closures were very short in duration, due to either high winds or special events. This will be the very first multi-day closure since the opening of the bridge. It’s also a unique chance to cross the bridge without cars – for all the other bridge closures, neither bicyclists nor motorists were permitted. Come join us for a once-in-a-lifetime ride across the bridge and hear for yourself how quiet it will be without automotive traffic. Appreciate the iconic landmark with only the sounds of bike bells and people-powered transportation!

Whether you join one of our twice daily guided tours, or blaze your own trail on a self-guided ride, this is the weekend to do it. Locals and visitors alike can ride side by side, sharing the bridge only with other non-motorized transportation. (Okay, there will be one bus running to shuttle people back and forth between Marin and San Francisco, but that’s only ONE vehicle!).

Whatever you do, don’t miss out on this epic opportunity to Bike the Bridge this weekend.

Golden Gate Bridge. No cars. All Bikes.

The Golden Gate Bridge will be closed to motorized traffic this weekend, so what better time to Bike the Bridge?! The sidewalk will remain open to bicyclists while the roadway closes for installation of a movable barrier. Come see the engineering feat – and of course, the amazing Bridge! – up close from your bicycle seat.
