The Best Way to Tour San Francisco and Manhattan

During Summer Streets in NYC, the streets are closed to cars but open to people!

August is upon us! This is the last full month of summer, so make the most of it by getting on a bike. Both New York and San Francisco have some great events going on all month, so don’t let traffic get you down – hop on a Blazing Saddles bike and you’re covered coast to coast.

San Francisco - Golden Gate Park is hosting the quintessential San Francisco music festival, Outside Lands. This is a 3-day music, art and food fest that exemplifies everything you imagine when you think of “The City”. With musicians ranging from Radiohead to LCD Soundsystem to Duran Duran and of course, the headliner, Lionel Richie, there’s something for everyone this year. Oh yeah, Lana del Rey and Ryan Adams are also on the bill, so when we say there’s something for everyone, we really mean it!

Attendance is supposed to pass 200,000 people over the 3-day festival, and you know what that means - surge pricing and traffic jams. Leave the traffic in your rear reflector (get it?) and hop on a bike. With valet bike parking and lots of self-parking spots as well, roll on over to the park on two wheels.

New York City - Summer Streets returns again to New York City during the first three weekends in August. This is an annual event that last year drew over 300,000 people to the car-free streets of the event. Summer Streets extends from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park, along Park Avenue and connecting streets, with easy access from all points in New York City. When else can you get around the entirety of The City with no car traffic?

There are plenty of activities to participate in during Summer Streets. From free soccer games sponsored by Nike, to a 165 foot zipline to bicycle safety classes, there is something for everyone. This is a once-a-year opportunity to zip around Manhattan on a bicycle with little concern about car traffic. Hop on a bike and get rolling around the city!
